Oil Spill Response Limited is pleased to announce the successful upgrade of the OSPRAG capping device. The upgrade has increased the functionality of the equipment by introducing direct intervention capability. The capping device can now be connected to a surface vessel, allowing well kill or flow back operations to take place. Connection is via a subsea skid or direct connection to a vessel.
The capping device was delivered to OSRL in 2011 as a direct result of the Macondo oil spill and is available for use in the UKCS through a supplementary agreement.
Andy Myers, Subsea Director explained, “Completion of this upgrade demonstrates continued investment in the OSPRAG service and commitment by our subscribers to OSRL subsea well response capabilities in the UKCS.”
