Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) launches new Incident Management Systems (IMS) e-Learning

sexta-feira, 15 de janeiro de 2016

Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) has launched two new e-learning courses; Incident Management Systems (IMS) 100 and 200, designed specifically for the oil and gas industry. Both courses align with the IPIECA (The global oil and gas industry association for environmental and social issues) and IOGP (International Association of Oil & Gas Producers) Good Practice Guide on IMS for the oil and gas industry, ensuring the content is at the forefront of industry best practice. This is the next launch in a series of e-learning courses following the successful release of OSRL’s Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) 1 On-Scene Commander (OIM Offshore Installation Manager) course in February 2015.

The IMS e-learning courses are designed with the user in mind. They offer delegates total flexibility to undertake training at the learner’s own pace, location and convenience, offering a cost-effective and convenient alternative to offsite classes. Providing a relevant and unique learning experience, IMS-100 provides the foundation for higher level IMS training, introducing the concept of incident management by describing the history, features and principles, and organisational structure of an IMS. It offers practical tips in addition to an assessment at the end to affirm the users learning. This course is suited to any individual who would perform a support or tactical role during an oil spill response as well as personnel involved with emergency planning who require an understanding of incident management.

Building on the knowledge gained from IMS-100, IMS-200 is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident within an Incident Management System framework. The IMS-200 course delves deeper into the leadership and management aspects of IMS, aimed at personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position. Focusing on the organizational flexibility, the briefings and the transfer of command, it is similar in structure to IMS-100 with an assessment at the end of the course to affirm learning.

IMS-100 and 200 are incorporated within OSRL’s own web based learning management system.  The new courses integrate with a user’s network for simple access and administration and can be viewed on a range of devices including PCs, MACs and iPads. A demo of the course can be viewed in the Technical Library section.

Jo Unwin, Training and Consultancy Manager, Oil Spill Response Ltd said, “This latest e-learning course is part of OSRL’s ongoing commitment to develop innovative, interactive and engaging courses that are, above all, relevant to clients’ needs.  Research has consistently demonstrated that delegates learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning experience and, at OSRL, training courses are designed and delivered to provide learning in this way. Each and every person contributes to their own course, recognising that quality training is about creation, not just consumption of knowledge.”

OSRL’s offers an end-to-end oil spill preparedness and response service that provides an integrated solution to oil spill preparedness and response needs. Preparedness training is a core part of the preparedness services offered to industry. OSRL continually invests and develops both its courses and its talented team of training professionals who bring their real spill response experience to every course.
