Oil Spill Response Limited’s (OSRL) latest development in subsea well capping technology, Offset Installation Equipment (OIE), was officially launched today from the equipment’s new home base in Trieste, Italy.
The well-attended event, which featured key figures from across the offshore industry, represented the culmination of six years’ work between members of the Subsea Well Intervention Project (SWRP), OSRL and leading oil and gas engineering specialists, Saipem.

Designed specifically for scenarios where direct vertical access to a well head is not viable, the new Offset Installation Equipment (OIE) enables capping or related equipment to be installed at a safe distance from an incident.
OSRL and Bayfield Oil Services Announce Joint Venture Agreement

Oil Spill Response Limited (ORSL), the largest international industry-funded cooperative, and Ghana’s Bayfield Oil Services, today announced the establishment of a joint venture. The new strategic alliance, which will be named OSRL Ghana Limited, will see the two companies sharing their expertise and resources. OSRL will expand its current in-county presence for oil spill preparedness services, including the provision of specialist personnel to members, consultancy services, training and equipment hire. Bayfield’s role will focus on its local expertise and experience of operating in Ghana, as well as providing local content and access to facilities in Accra and Takoradi.

A recent offshore exercise, conducted by Oil Spill Response Ltd. (OSRL), was designed to understand how remote sensing technologies can help detect oil spills at sea more effectively. Utilising the latest in satellite, airborne and in-water surveillance and communications equipment, the highly successful event demonstrated the value of the state-of-the-art technology in identifying and monitoring spills and was conducted with full approval of the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) following a rigorous planning and stakeholder consultation process.

Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL), the world’s largest oil spill response cooperative, will be showcasing the capabilities of its Boeing 727 aerial dispersant aircraft on the Solent on 7th June 2017. Flying off the coast of Lee-on-the-Solent, the low-level on-the-water exercise is scheduled to take place at approximately 19.30 and will demonstrate the aircraft’s unique dispersant capabilities, spraying fresh water to simulate the application of dispersant in a real incident.

Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) has launched two new e-learning courses; Incident Management Systems (IMS) 100 and 200, designed specifically for the oil and gas industry. Both courses align with the IPIECA (The global oil and gas industry association for environmental and social issues) and IOGP (International Association of Oil & Gas Producers) Good Practice Guide on IMS for the oil and gas industry, ensuring the content is at the forefront of industry best practice.
