AOG 2016

Colleagues from our SWIS department in Singapore submitted an abstract for the annual Australasian Oil & Gas Exhibition & Conference (AOG 2016) titled “Raising Awareness of the Preparedness Planning Challenges for Subsea Well Response”. The abstract received acceptance and Dion Soyza was duly invited to give a presentation under the Subsea Repair, Remediation and Intervention stream of the conference

The event was held in Perth from the 24th - 26th of February, 2016 at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre. Australia’s premier oil and gas event, AOG 2016, showcases the latest products and innovations in the field from more than 500 exhibitors and 100 experts from 22 countries.

Celebrating its 35th year, the AOG 2016 conference featured ‘collaboration’ as its theme, with over 100 experts from leading companies providing input on how industry, government and key stakeholders should continue to work closely together to reduce costs and improve productivity.

In keeping with the AOG 2016 theme, the SWIS presentation highlighted current industry trends towards preparedness planning and approaches and challenges around regulatory, mutual aid and evaluation. Working around this, examples of national and industry led initiatives provide valuable insight into how industry, government and key stakeholders can collaborate to improve preparedness and reduce uncertainty in subsea well response.

The presentation ended with three concise key takeaways providing the audience and industry with valuable insight on how industry collaboration can overcome challenges in planning for subsea well response.
