Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL), the global oil spill response cooperative, is pleased to announce the relocation of its base in Bahrain and the official opening of its new facilities.
The opening of the new facility took place on 11th October 2022, under the patronage of H.E Dr Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and included a ribbon-cutting ceremony with OSRL's Chief Executive Robert Limb.
OSRL first established a permanent presence in Bahrain in early 2006. The OSRL Bahrain Base is primarily a forward operating base designed to respond to the immediate emergency phase for incidents. The equipment stored in the base is specially selected to suit local needs, packaged such that it can be road or sea freighted to the response site. To take advantage of Bahrain's air links, OSRL has equipped the base with air-mobile response equipment
The regional team is a hub for member preparedness activities for multiple Participant and Associate OSRL members in the Middle East. The team regularly participate in spill response drills and exercises with our members, helping to ensure these organisations maintain a high level of oil spill preparedness.
The purpose of the recent base relocation project was to create a new fit-for-purpose OSRL base that will offer a high-quality space and infrastructure for future growth and a conference room facility for delivery of training of up to 12 delegates.
Middle East Regional Manager Rhys Jenkins said, "Our new facility in Bahrain allows us further enhance the service we deliver in the region. Our new location will facilitate greater preparedness, allowing us to hold more training courses and technical workshops in the region. My thanks go to everyone involved in our relocation project."
