The Prax Group Joins OSRL as an Associate Member

Wednesday, March 24, 2021

Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) is pleased to announce that The Prax Group has signed a new membership agreement, joining as an Associate Member from 1st March 2021.

The Prax Group has engaged OSRL for the provision of response services and related support following its acquisition of Lindsey Oil Refinery, located near Immingham in the north east region of the UK, which it purchased from the refinery’s previous owner and current OSRL member, Total. The facility has since been re-named Prax Lindsey Oil Refinery.

The Prax Group’s business is focused on refining, trading and logistics, with related assets and investments designed to complement and enhance its core activities. The Group refines and blends oil products from its strategically located terminals and warehouses around the world, and it currently employs more than 1300 people across 12 offices and seven countries.

This latest UK purchase covers a 500-acre site, with an annual production capacity of 5.4 million tonnes. It is one of Europe’s most advanced refineries, processing over 20 different types of petroleum products produced from crude including petrol, diesel, bitumen, fuel oil and aviation fuels.

With a strong track record of investment, the Prax Group is looking to integrate the refinery and associated product flows into the company’s UK distribution and retail footprint which operates under the Harvest Energy brand, creating unique synergies with existing Prax-owned assets and demonstrating its ongoing commitment to building a reliable supply chain to meet the needs of its customers.

Commenting on the membership announcement, Rob James, EMEA Regional Director for OSRL, said: ¬

“We’re delighted to welcome the Prax Group into the OSRL cooperative. Our Associate Membership is designed specifically for organisations that have a particular operational requirement. And, in the case of the Prax Group, our logistics and experience responding to spills across the downstream and midstream sector were of particular interest.”

Sanjeev Kumar, Chief Executive of the Prax Group, added:

“We are pleased to join OSRL as an Associate Member. Our success as a Group has been achieved through our entrepreneurial spirit, the integrity of our staff, those we partner with, and our recognition that we are strengthened in turn through our relationships with other organisations whose synergies are very much aligned with our own.”

Recent months have seen OSRL add several new Associate Members, representing a diverse range of industries and requirements, as Robert Limb, OSRL’s Chief Executive, concludes:

“OSRL has a long history of providing bespoke preparedness and response solutions to the downstream, midstream and upstream sector. Welcoming the Prax Group as a new Associate Member is reflective of the conversations we are having with a number of businesses in these varied sectors.”
