RPS ASA’s OILMAP® 2D will be used during spills and exercises from today.
We are delighted to announce that OSRL has finished two major updates to our response modelling service.
- All response modelling will be done with the RPS ASA OILMAP® 2D software. This is a change for the Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Americas regions only. The Asia Pacific region has already implemented the use of this software.
- The development of OSRL’s global modelling services will be overseen by a dedicated team in Southampton, UK, lead by OSRL’s Geomatics Lead, Mr Liam Harrington-Missin, CSci CMarSci.
Liam explains:
“With this move to a globally consistent modelling platform we continue to evolve our modelling services. The OILMAP® program is an industry recognised oil spill model that predicts the movement of an oil slick and how its characteristics change over time. After a careful review of its capabilities, there was no doubt that this is the best tool for the job of response modelling.
Further, by transferring the delivery of the response service over to the dedicated modelling team, you will see some exciting developments in the coming years.”
SINTEF’s OSCAR 3D modelling program is still available for preparedness activities, response situations, and on an ad-hoc basis when subsurface modelling is needed.
