The Offliners course for the new UK Responders began in March, over the next 12 weeks, these new responders will be immersed in tactical and practical training to prepare them for responding to oil spills globally.

OSRL Penguin Quarantine Comes to a Close

Over the last two months, a total of 280 African penguins have been cared for at the OSRL GDS warehouse. The SANCCOB team are now wrapped up their response, so the base is back to its regular operational duties.

Whilst the world did not stop in 2020 and 2021, it slowed down dramatically with the effects felt across both cargo and personnel travel logistics. The combination of Brexit, Covid-19 supply chain impact, repercussions of the Suez Canal blockage, global HGV driver shortage, and the travel restrictions and ever-changing Covid-19 testing and quarantine requirements meant that we as a Global Logistics Team, are facing an unprecedented combination of events that directly affected our ability to perform our jobs.

The Covid-19 pandemic has required us to change much of what we do to maintain the same level of service throughout the last eight months. We have responded to oil spills using social distancing rules, delivered our courses remotely and conducted exercises on virtual platforms.
We know that dealing with an incident remotely presents a significant challenge for many organisations. Taking this into account, we are pleased to publish OSRL's Incident Management System Core Group addendum on the Virtual Incident Management System.
