On Wednesday, August 16, OSRL CEO Robert Limb lead a multifaceted OSRL team to Brazil to present a forum on Preparedness for a Major Subsea Incident. The forum was held at the Brazilian Petroleum & Gas Institute (IBP) in Rio de Janeiro, with a follow-on visit on Thursday, August 17, to the SWIS base at Angra dos Reis.

Satellite Imagery at OSRL

OSRL undertook a Triple Sortie exercise in September to validate the spraying capability of our Boeing 727 aircraft. The exercise also provided an excellent opportunity to test the coordination of spray runs between the 727s and the PA-31 Navajo aerial surveillance aircraft.

In October 2016, OSRL in coordination with Oceaneering successfully exercised the mobilisation of the SWIS Subsea Intervention Response Toolkit (SIRT), located at Oceaneering base in Macaé/RJ (approx. 370km distance from the SWIS Capping Stack based in Angra/RJ).

A sneak preview of spill response in cold climates and ice infested waters

OSRL’s response specialist, Bjørnar Andrè Fonn, participated in a pilot course on spill response in cold climates and ice infested waters, a project by the Norwegian Clean Seas Association for Operating Companies (NOFO), lead and facilitated by the Norwegian Fire Academy. This course is a pilot for a course which is undergoing development, and will be finalised in 2017.
