Oil Spill Response Limited has taken over the management of a response base on the west coast of Shetland. The facility, based at Scalloway, houses equipment that can be rapidly deployed in the event of an incident, either offshore or nearshore.

Oil Spill Response Limited is partnering with two leading environmental consulting firms, CTEH and CSA Ocean Sciences (CSA), to provide its members with additional specialist monitoring and sampling (M&S) services. These services cover the fields of human health, marine environmental monitoring, impact assessment and complementary spill response skills such as Shoreline Clean-up Assessment Technique (SCAT), crisis management and Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping.

OSRL Announces Enhanced Preparedness and Response Capability for North Sea Members

OSRL has announced the signing of a new agreement with Marine Environmental Solutions Limited (MES), an offshore services specialist, to enhance oil spill preparedness and response capabilities for OSRL members within the North Sea (initially Scottish waters).

Oil Spill Response Limited and Maritech Announces the Latest Iteration of Sea/Response, the Emergency Response Planning Tool for the Offshore Industry

Following a major update, Maritech, the maritime software and digital application specialist, has launched the third generation of its emergency planning tool, Sea/response – enhancing users’ ability to respond to an offshore incident quickly and effectively.
The updates are the result of an ongoing collaboration between Oil Spill Response, its SWIS subscribers and the technology experts at Maritech, which develops the Sea/ platform, including the Sea/response module.

Oil Spill Response Exercise This Week in the English Channel

This week Oil Spill Response is performing a live on-the-water exercise this week (22nd to 25th June) to train our response teams and develop our operational capabilities. The exercise will involve simulating an oil spill incident to test response equipment and instruct personnel on best-practice procedures. It will take place southwest of the Isle of Wight and along the Solent and involve a number of specialist vessels out on the water, as well as the Boeing 727 aircraft adapted with internal tanks, pumps, and spray booms flying alongside a dedicated surveillance aircraft.
