Recently, we delivered some face to face OPEP 3 training to one of our members in Aberdeen. One of our consultants shares this experience to demonstrate how face to face training can be achieved safely in a COVID-19 world.

With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, many countries have tightened their borders and restrict non-essential cargo movement.The Global Logistics Team works closely with other internal teams to ensure that our equipment can be delivered to the client’s designated location, including having personnel on Base to conduct pre-dispatch load checks and coordinating Dangerous Goods paperwork.

Is remote training the way forward? Remote training has considerable benefit to delegates such as time and cost savings and is also a more environmentally sustainable option reducing carbon footprint.

But how could we deliver the IMO recognised courses of up to 40 hours of learning, including practical deployments?...

Although this period has been testing on everyone, having remote experiences from different viewpoints enables us to explore and further improve our service delivery. Learning what pitfalls to avoid and what makes for a pleasant albeit remote customer journey can be shared and incorporated into our services. As the world moves towards a more virtual work setup, OSRL will not linger behind.

The WCM program was developed by CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA) and has been integrated into operational plans and desktop exercises conducted in the U.S. and internationally since 2014. Designed for deepwater deployments, water column characterization, water sampling, and monitoring during subsea dispersant injection (SSDI), he instruments enable in situ, real-time characterization of water column properties with depth, including temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, and two types of fluorescence, as well as the remote triggering of water sampling bottles at any depth.

OSRL’s Global Logistics Team is set up to provide high quality expertise within OSRL and to the wider industry. Comprising of logistics specialists, the team provides management, control and improvement of procedures and processes related to movement of OSRL personnel and equipment on a global basis.
